Prop. 227 Resistance in LA

Here’s a scathing attack against the bureaucratic and legal resistance to Prop. 227 implementation in Los Angeles, delivered by Jill Stewart, one of California’s most forthright and fearless political columnists. In interests of full disclosure, I’m also including her column of the previous week, which contained some kind words directed toward me (in contrast to most California Republicans) on immigration issues, a column whose title— “Republican Reee-tards”—aptly summarizes the contents.

One important point to note is that despite the repeated attempts to avoid following Prop. 227, only about 8% of the immigrant students in LA have yet been pushed back into “bilingual” programs, a massive reduction from the previous situation.
