I’m sending along a recent opinion piece critical of our initiative. However, the critic has common sense, and attacks a recent bilingual academic study suggesting that it takes 10 years for a young child to learn English as absurd and ridiculous and playing into our hands by making the supporters of bilingual education look ridiculous. However, what Hernandez isn’t aware of is that ALL the supporters of bilingual education believe that it takes 7 years to teach a child English, which is almost as ridiculous. Once Hernandez (who lives on the East Coast) becomes a little more familiar with our initiative and with bilingual education, I think he’ll end up supporting us.
